During the annual F8 developers conference on Tuesday, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg'made a cursory mention of a murder video posted to Facebook, saying the company would do everything to prevent such tragedies.

Acting on a tip from the McDonald's, state troopers spotted Stephens leaving the restaurant in Erie and went after him, bumping his auto to try to get it to stop, authorities said. Authorities say officers tried to pull Stephens over and, after a brief pursuit, he shot and killed himself.

Facebook drew criticism for not removing the gruesome video until two hours after Stephens posted it.

Gail Wheeler, of Erie, said she was stopped at a light at the McDonald's when Stephens came "whipping out" of the parking lot, almost hitting her.

The owner of the Willoughby gun range, Blake Frederick, told Cleveland.com that he recalls Stephens as nice and jovial and doesn't remember anything negative about him.

In other Facebook videos Stephens posted on the day of Mr Godwin's killing, the suspect said he had "just snapped", blaming gambling debts and a broken-down relationship among other things.

During the manhunt, Stephen D. Anthony, special agent in charge of the FBI in Cleveland, said, "There's not a federal agency in the United States that is not involved in some way". One resident said Stephens was there two days ago, fixing the home's garage.

Saudi helicopter shot down by friendly fire in Yemen
The incident happened as US Defense Secretary James Mattis arrived in Riyadh , to discuss the Yemen war with Saudi leaders. It gave no details on the cause of the crash, saying it was under investigation.

Stephens published video on Facebook of him shooting a randomly chosen victim walking down the street, Robert Godwin Sr., then fleeing the scene. The chilling video was on Facebook for three hours before it was taken down.

"They don't make men like him anymore".

He did use the video stream after the killing, however, to claim to have killed 13 people, though authorities say Godwin is his only confirmed victim.

"Each one of us forgives the killer, the murderer", Godwin's daughter Tonya Godwin-Baines told CNN's Anderson Cooper. State police went to the restaurant and Stephens sped off until the crash, according to police.

Law enforcement officials said his cellphone was last tracked Sunday afternoon in Erie, Pennsylvania, about 100 miles (160 kilometers) east of Cleveland.

In a statement on Monday, the company said the video of the shooting death uploaded by Stephens had been on its site and smartphone app too long and that it was launching a review of how objectionable material is reported and taken down.

Police got a tip saying Stephens' auto was in a McDonald's parking lot there.
