Stephens, 37, shared a recording on Sunday of himself announcing his plan to kill someone, then two minutes later posted another video of himself shooting and killing Godwin, Facebook said.

Stephens was spotted by an "alert citizen" around 11 a.m. Tuesday, Pennslyvania State Police Troopers troopers said in a Facebook post. "After a brief pursuit, Stephens shot and killed himself", Pennsylvania state police said in a statement on Twitter.

The break in the case came when police received a tip that Stephens's vehicle was in the McDonald's auto park in Erie, in the north-western corner of the state, about 100 miles east of Cleveland, authorities said.

The Associated Press reported that Stephens' life "appeared to be unraveling under the weight of gambling debts and trouble with his girlfriend".

The search for Steve Stephens, the man accused of shooting a 74-year-old dead on Easter Sunday, ended Tuesday morning when he was found dead inside his auto in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Stephens then shot himself as his vehicle spun out of control. He said Cleveland police had paired up in squad cars as they hunted for Stephens.

The woman, Joy Lane, told WJW-TV in Cleveland that she last talked with Stephens on Saturday night, when he told her he had quit his job and was moving out of state.

"Like I said, I killed 13, so I'm working on 14 as we speak", he said. He is "armed and unsafe", police said.

Authorities identified the homicide victim as Robert Godwin, 74.

In another video Stephens posted on Sunday, he claimed to have murdered 13 people and said he was going to kill more. The Cleveland Police Department has confirmed the killing. She said state troopers weren't far behind.

At the United Nations, Russia's deputy ambassador, Vladimir Safronkov, strongly criticized what he called the U.S. USA officials informed Russian forces ahead of the missile strikes on and avoided hitting Russian personnel.

Stephens was subject of a nationwide manhunt along with a $50,000 reward and was facing charges of aggravated murder.

"We are grateful that this has ended", Williams told reporters Tuesday.

Following the suicide of the Facebook killer, new details are being revealed about how he came to be confronted by police in Pennsylvania. Williams said, "Currently, there are no other victims that we know of".

Later Sunday, Stephens uploaded a video to his Facebook page showing a gun pointed at a man's head.

As officers approached the area, Stephens took off in his vehicle.

She said her father, who had 10 children, was a gentle man with nothing mean about him.

"He got to the second window of the drive-thru", said the owner, Thomas DuCharme, Jr.

The chase lasted two miles before Stephens took his own life, police said.

Police said the Easter Sunday shooting occurred on a residential road in east Cleveland's Glenville neighborhood.

Sara Ganim reported from Cleveland, and Nicole Chavez and Eliott C. McLaughlin wrote from Atlanta.
