Sanders on Clinton's 'I'm with Her' Slogan: 'It's So Phony'

Since the election, Clinton and her campaign staff have attributed the loss on a number of reasons, including but not limited to: Obama, Russia, Wikileaks, racism, FBI Director James Comey and former Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders.

In the new book Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton's Doomed Campaign, political journalists Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes offer a behind-the-scenes look of the politician's campaign and what went down the night it all came to a head.

Following that, the White House called to encourage Hillary to concede, but the officials instead chose to drag the event out.

"You need to concede", the book says Obama told his former secretary of state over the phone.

Mrs Clinton then called Mr Trump, stating the two words that had seemed unthinkable to her supporters: "Congratulations Donald".

The book, out Tuesday, explores Clinton's 2016 campaign and the excruciating play-by-play of her election night.

The book says a second previously undisclosed phone conversation with Mr Obama "crystallized everything for Hillary".

But Clinton was not convinced, telling Sullivan that it was no longer her "job anymore to do this".

Trump vows to back US dairy farmers in Canada trade spat
Dismantling it would mean lower prices at the supermarket, and a more internationally competitive industry, says the paper. New York's senators are pushing to change a Canadian trade policy they say is hurting dairy farmers.

Huma Abedin sheltered Clinton from criticism - The book alleges that vice campaign chair Huma Abedin would rarely criticize Clinton, and "couldn't be counted on to relay constructive criticism to Hillary without pointing a finger at the critic". Bill Clinton is still "Slick Willy" in many ways, including how he still has a tendency to speak about women in "less than respectful terms", as Allen and Parnes write. "I'm sorry", she said.

"I take responsibility for that decision, and I want to be as transparent as possible, which is why I turned over 55,000 pages, why I've turned over my server, why I've agreed to- in fact, been asking to and have finally gotten a date to- testify before a congressional committee in October", Clinton said.

Allen said when election results showed she would lose to Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, her aides tried to convince her to give an impassioned concession speech in which she would promote Democratic values.

To this end, she had a trusted aide access the campaign's server and download the e-mails sent and received by top staffers.

Hillary Clinton had to eat humble pie twice on election night.

Even Clinton's close friends think she is responsible for her loss.

"She had let him down".
