India Tv- Vijay Mallya Tweet

Why did CBI not arrest Mallya and attach his properties at the time of registration of FIR on 29/7/2015 itself preventing his escape?

Mallya appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court in London and was seen walking out with his legal team a few hours later after being granted bail.

Proclaimed offender industrialist Vijay Mallya was arrested in London by Scotland Yard on India's request for his extradition.

The owner of the Sahara Force India Formula One team has been arrested in London after India made an extradition request. The primary court, where his case is being considered, will have only advisory jurisdiction and not adjunctory jurisdiction in this extradition matter.

Mallya, 61, secretly fled India in March a year ago, owing more than US$1 billion (S$1.4 billion) after defaulting on loan payments to state-owned banks and allegedly misusing the funds.

The flamboyant businessman, whose now-defunct "The King of Good Times" Kingfisher Airlines owes more than Rs9,000 crore to various banks, had fled India on March 2, 2016.

Mr. Mallya, declared a wilful defaulter by banks, including the State Bank of India, had unsuccessfully offered the consortium of lenders an initial settlement of ₹4,000 crore, out of Kingfisher Airlines' total dues of about ₹9,000 crore.

Turkey's Nationalist Movement Party: We Fulfilled our Promise in Referendum
Both Germany and France expressed concern about possible election irregularities and called on Erdogan to engage in dialogue with the opposition.

This is because Mallya has successfully made his case a part of the English judicial system and is now entitled to explore all legal options of the United Kingdom courts before a final decision is taken to extradite him to India.

"Usual Indian media hype". The next hearing is scheduled for May 17.

Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said, "Why did the BJP government not move for Mallya's deportation instead of extradition?" There are legal ways to recover the money which is being initiated through auctioning of assets.

Since Mallya left the country, the government has been looking at steps to bring him back, he said.

According to the figures released by the Ministry of External Affairs on March 22, India has only successfully extradited 62 persons since 2002. "It obviously gives us a lot of confidence in this case, but there is a long way to go before the actual extradition happens and he (Mallya) faces the courts here. Mallya extradition will act as an important test case", the source said.

Tulsi said when there is a request for extradition then normally bail is granted only after 60 days, but Mallya was given the relief on the same day. The list of others whom India has sought to extradite include Lalit Modi (for alleged financial offences), Ravi Sankaran (in the navy war room leak case), Nadeem Saifi (in the Gulshan Kumar murder case) and Tiger Hanif (in the Gujarat blasts case).
