Galaxy S8 won't have Bixby voice function at launch

Galaxy S8 a “game-changer” that will return Samsung to leadership

Yes, the company says that key features of Bixby which they demonstrated at the launch like visual search, ability to remind you of something, etc. will work during the global launch.

The Bixby Assistant was the most talked about thing after the Infinity display.

Samsung Galaxy S8 will launch worldwide on April 21st 2017.

The Wall Street Journal, citing sources, reported that internal tests conducted at Samsung revealed Bixby's voice recognition performance in English lagged behind its form in Korean. Other features, including Bixby Vision, Home, and Reminder, would, however, be available.

Also, Samsung Electronics had already hinted that the Bixby voice wouldn't be launching in full, originally, detailing that voice controls would be integrated into some key native apps with a limited number of languages being supported at launch. The same report also stated that Bixby's most widely advertised feature, voice control, would not immediately be available.

In a response to the Journal, Samsung said some Bixby features will be available when the S8 hits US shelves on April 21, but voice-activated Bixby services won't be an option until late spring.

After a hyped-up unveiling of Samsung's latest virtual assistant Bixby, the tech giant stated that it will not accompany the Samsung Galaxy S8 features for now. The information about that it won't be available for the Galaxy S8's launch should be seen as a big blow to Samsung, as it means those buy the device won't be able to use Bixby Voice.

Now, however, Samsung has delayed the Bixby release, saying the platform's voice functionality will not drop until "later this spring". Bixby Home is simply a pane of various widgets related to Bixby.

The new flagships are expected to go on sale this month in a variety of markets globally, but it might be missing the new voice assistant.
