Few ads run on 'O'Reilly Factor' as boycott takes effect

Fox News host Bill O'Reilly is facing backlash following a New York Times report revealing that he and Fox News' parent company, 21st Century Fox, have paid a total of almost $13 million to avoid lawsuits pertaining to reports of sexual harassment and other misconduct by O'Reilly.

O'Reilly has denied the allegations, claiming that his celebrity status makes him vulnerable to such things.

"I think he shouldn't have settled; personally, I think he shouldn't have settled", he said.

It is unclear whether he meant that he doesn't believe the allegations or that he doesn't think offering women career advancement in exchange for sexual favors is wrong.

The O'Reilly Factor continued to go up in flames on Wednesday as the number of advertisers abandoning Bill O'Reilly's primetime Fox show has doubled since this morning when PoliticusUSA counted 21 companies that have withdrawn their ads from the time slot. They're not wanting to do business with them anymore because of the way that they have created this record of sexual harassment. Bill O'Reilly needs to go to jail.

Donald Trump has defended Fox News anchor Bill O'Reilly amid sexual harassment claims against the TV star.

"Talk about the education of Donald Trump becoming president", said CNN's chief political correspondent.

Spin has failed since The New York Times exposed the $13 million Fox News has paid in settlements to female ex-staffers allegedly harassed by the 67-year-old news host.

Meyers referred to instances when Trump has tweeted out headlines he had just seen on the network as if they were his own ideas, and his fandom of Fox News overall, going so far as to advertise for the network's shows via his Twitter account.

In this combination photo, Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., left, appears at the Justice on Trial Film Festival on October 20, 2013, in Los Angeles and Fox News personality Bill O'Reilly appears on the set of his show, "The O'Reilly Factor", on October 1, 2015 in NY. Paul Rittenberg, executive vice president for ad sales, said the network is trying to accommodate O'Reilly's advertisers by moving their spots to other programs on the channel. "It shouldn't be in America that you can sexually harass women and then buy your way out of it because you're rich", she said.
