Apple Makes Its Apps Available For Free

Apple Makes iMovie, GarageBand, and iWork Apps for Mac and iOS Free for All Users

A while ago, users purchasing new Macs or iPhones discovered that these applications were now free on their platform. Now though, the applications are free to all iOS and mac users. While they were already free to new Mac and iOS device customers (since 2013), making the price "free" makes them easier to download by everyone.

Apple has introduced updated variants of its iWork, iMovie & GarageBand apps.

In case you are unaware of the nature of these apps, well, their names are pretty self-explanatory. Now the apps are free all the time.

Kenyans sweep Boston Marathon on a good day for US runners
It was the Boston Marathon yesterday, and it marks 50 years since an incredible event for runners and women everywhere. Jock Semple, the official who tried to push her off the track, died in 1988 as one of Switzer's friends.

iWork includes Pages, which is like Microsoft Word, Numbers (like Excel) and Keynote (like PowerPoint.) The apps stay in sync across devices, whether you're using them on an iPhone, iPad or Mac, and documents can also be accessed easily through iCloud.

Previously, users with older Apple devices that weren't looking to upgrade would need to buy the apps individually, and while they weren't excessively expensive, any price is too much for some people. iMovie for the Mac, for example, was $14.99 United States dollars, and the productivity iWork apps, of which there are three, were $19.99 USD each on Mac. The free versions are now available on the iTunes Store and the Mac App Store.
