Uber to Be Required to Offering In-App Tipping in NYC

Time to pay surged price again? Ola Uber drivers to go on strike from tomorrow

The guild, set up past year to advocate for drivers, started a campaign last summer to pressure Uber to add a tipping feature in its app. Uber was "unable to move on the option", said guild founder Jim Conigliaro, so the guild brought the issue to the taxi commission.

Here's a tip: The city could soon require Uber to offer a tipping option in its app. The petition said drivers were losing out on cash because riders can't leave an extra tip within the app.

In its announcement Monday, the TLC said the tipping options would be "platform agnostic" and apply to all so-called for-hire vehicles, which provide prearranged rides and include ride-hail, community livery and black-car services.

"Uber is always striving to offer the best earning opportunity for drivers and we are constantly working to improve the driver experience", she said.

Uber's days without tipping are numbered in New York City.

The TLC will propose the rule by July, then there will be a public hearing before the taxi's commission board votes on the proposal.

Most drivers of the estimated 1.5 lakh app-based taxis in Delhi-NCR have decided not to take out their vehicles on Tuesday.

"People do want to tip".

Apple might replace your damaged iPad 4 with an iPad Air 2
Talk about turning a frown upside down-this is nothing short of a win for 4th generation iPad owners in need of a fix . Apple's memo also notes for staff to inform customers of the replacement unit's color and capacity.

The court had earlier directed the companies and the unions to resolve dispute through mediation.

Many New Yorkers use Uber because you don't have to worry after you plug in your starting point and destination.

Welcoming the court order, Uber in a statement said it hopes it will enable drivers to stay behind the wheel, without fear or harassment.

Right now, tipping an Uber driver is one of those weird things.

Delhi-NCR residents got their first taste of Ola and Uber drivers' strike against the cab companies in February this year, which went on for nearly two weeks.

"At an nearly six-hour hearing on April 6, the TLC heard testimony about a decline in earnings due to fares being paid by passengers going down, increases in commission and high vehicle costs as well as confusion due to discrepancies between the passenger fare and the fare that the driver's pay comes out of", the commission said. For example, it added the ability for riders to offer "compliments" to drivers in November 2016 - a move that was criticized by some, who said "compliments don't pay the bills".

The company is putting a good face on the TLC's decision, though a spokeswoman noted that it has yet to see the actual rules. "There is anger among drivers that government is not intervening in raising their issues with Ola and Uber", Kamaljeet Gill, president of Sarvodaya Drivers' Association, said.
