Did the NSA spy on Middle East banks using the SWIFT network?

Microsoft typically reveals who reported various security flaws, but one researcher noticed that the company issued patches with the MS17-010 update last month, fixing some of the newly revealed NSA exploits, without noting any source for flaw reports.

"Maybe if all surviving WWIII, The Shadow Brokers be seeing you next week".

Fairfax was not able to verify the authenticity of the files - and the NSA has not commented on the leak.

The Shadow Brokers released another cache of cyberweapons linked to the Equation Group, including Windows exploits and attack details for the SWIFT banking system.

It's now feared that one of the world's most secure methods of making payment orders has been irrevocably compromised with the NSA's sophisticated arsenal of hacking tools now freely available online.

SWIFT told reporters it has not seen unauthorized access on its networks, and EastNets said the same. But in addition to the documents, the hackers also released what appears to be an arsenal of Windows-based hacking tools - some of which target previously unknown vulnerabilities.

The hack could have consequences for the relationship between big software companies and the US government and could make it harder for Europe to trust the U.S.to respect privacy agreements. As expected, the company says that most of those exploits have already been patched.

And although it looked like the end of the world for Windows users, as some experts have called it, Microsoft says there's absolutely no reason to be anxious.

Amid tensions, Pence visits military camp near Korean DMZ
In August previous year , a submarine-launched ballistic missile tested from Sinpo flew 500 kilometres (300 miles) towards Japan. While speaking with US members of the military, Pence addressed the failed missile launch, describing it as a "provocation".

Another prominent security researcher, Cris Thomas, said the NSA hack was carried out "presumably as a way to monitor, if not disrupt, financial transactions to terrorist groups".

EastNets ran a "complete check of its servers and found no hacker compromise or any vulnerabilities", according to a statement from EastNets' chief executive and founder, Hazem Mulhim. The group complained about the lack of media coverage of its release last Saturday.

A spokesperson said in an email in the middle of the night that the company has "investigated and confirmed that the exploits disclosed by the Shadow Brokers have already been addressed by previous updates to our supported products".

Earlier today, Microsoft concluded an investigation which it started yesterday after a mysterious group of hackers known as The Shadow Brokers dumped a trove of Windows exploits online, as part of a plan started past year and aimed at ousting the Equation Group cyber-espionage group as the NSA, and so, exposing the US' foreign hacking operations. The exploits, which focus on multiple versions of Microsoft's Windows operating system, are extremely effective - and, worryingly, don't require extensive technical knowledge to use.

"This is by far the most brutal dump", said Comae Technologies founder Matt Suiche, who has closely followed the group's disclosures and initially helped confirm its connection to the NSA a year ago.

In a statement to Wired, Microsoft said, "We are reviewing the report and will take the necessary actions to protect our customers".

There were 3 additional exploits, "EnglishmanDentist", "EsteemAudit" and "ExplodingCan" that could not be reproduced on supported versions of Windows by Microsoft's engineers, thus no patches have been released for these issues.
